Happy New Year! Its been a lovely break, I feel like I have been on a perfectly restful cruise in my own living room! Those of you who know me well will understand what I'm saying. I'm still enjoying a quiet time but the enquiries are starting to roll in so I've shaken off my snooze and its back to work. Once I hit the wedding season I often find the 'oh so important' social networking, blogging and tweeting hard to keep up with so I thought I would write a series of blogs featuring some of last years beautiful weddings and our expanding stock.
I'm going to kick start things with the vintage crockery hire. Proving that the elegance of vintage is here to stay last year we delivered well over 700 trios, approximately 200 cake stands and I've lost count of the teaspoons! And the diary is looking like 2017 will keep us on our toes washing all those delicate pieces again...
Kate and Simon's very pretty marquee wedding above was held in the grounds of their parents splendid home, the best type of wedding. Kate, referred to me by Lindsey & Gwen from Compton & Kennedy's Emporium (two fabulous ladies who make everything delicious!) was a real pleasure to correspond with. Sometimes you just know you are going to like someone long before you meet them. Captured beautifully by Lindsey Arber Photography, this fabulous wedding resulted in us having an innordinate number of very pretty vintage sandwich platters!
Kate's florist used our pressed glass cake stands for these fabulous centrepieces. A simple elegant and hugely cost effective centrepiece, From Me To You florist.
Other items hired to complete this elegant afternoon tea setup were the vintage suitcases, we printed pretty luggage tags for Kates table plan, oodles of pretty homemade bunting, drinks dispensers with matching jam jars cocktail glasses and coordinated monogrammed straws...All in all it was the perfect afternoon tea party!
And a quintesential Garden Party! It was lovely to work alongside two extremely talented ladies Kimm of Maisons Des Macarons and Victoria of Victorias Cake Company. When you need to place your trust in someone for your special day I can't stress enough that recommendation is key ... and I highly recommend both of these suppliers. Victorias cake artistry is second to none and Kimm's macarons are to die for! We styled the afternoon tea party on a perfect sunny day for a regular client. The brief was pretty, pretty, pretty! I made the chalk board to stand behind the cake table and used our pretty french louis furniture, crokery and glassware.. With pom poms in the trees, the samovar polished and ready to go and the sweet smell of Victorias cakes in the air we were definitely bringing on the pretty!
Why not hire our Samovar to top up your teapots & coffee pots. The Samovar was traditionally used in Russia and Eastern countries where tea is a real delicacy. It is a large kettle with a dispenser or spigot offering a never-ending supply of fresh boiling water. We chose an electric thermostatically controlled Samovar as opposed to the traditional coal for obvious reasons, so our Samovar is ready to plug in and top up your teapots! Also great for those who actually fancy a cup of coffee!
The Samovar holds 6 litres of water (around 40 cups of tea). Rather than running back and forth re-filling those teapots, the staff at your venue need only to keep it topped up for a never-ending supply of boiling water. Hire two Samovars for very large weddings.

Of course no one does a tea party like children! Above set of photographs taken by Firetree Photography. Visit our crockery hire page for more info.
Congratulations Suhail and Sanah
It's been a while since our last blog but yesterdays wedding at the stunning venue Kelham Hall in the beautiful Trent Valley, is definitely worth a mention. I was approached last October by two impressive ladies, Sanah (bride) & Ruksana (mother of the bride) with the brief to create an elegant and stylish wedding on a very large scale. This was a segregation wedding with gentlemen on one side and ladies on the other side but the challenge was to make a statement of the separation providing a curtain of flowers and candle light. Enrolling the help of Julia Dilworth for floral arrangements and More Weddings (aka More Productions) for the structures and draping and decoration by Nerissa Eve we worked together to create a glamorous aisle.. A lovely quote from the mother of the bride after the wedding summed up my experience, 'We were lucky to have a really strong team on our wedding'.
More Productions provided the structure to support Julias fabulous floral arrangement. Using our glass ball tea light holders suspended from the arrangement and 19cm cylinder bud vases and tealight holders lined on the table. 306 glass vessels went into making this luxurious aisle finished off with More Weddings 7ft blossom trees and white carpet. We tied the aisle off with an organza bow, the bride simply had to be the first person to tread this particular path.
Julia used an abundance of orchid, gypsophila, blossom and foliage in this 36ft arrangement with large 60cm cylinder vases completing our curtain of flowers. Twinkling candle light from over 600 glass vases made the room feel magical!
With such a dramatic aisle the flowers on the tables were kept simple. We used a mix of 40cm, 30cm & 20cm glass cylinder vases with a variation of twigs, and assorted flowers submerged in the water topped with a 3" floating candle, the table littered with various glass tea light holders. The challenge on the day was lighting all the candles. Another member of the team deserves a mention. Can I thank the catering staff from Shaziana for helping us with the final task of lighting over 600 candles! I think it was the collaborative team effort that really impressed me with this wedding and I look forward to working with each of these suppliers again in the future.
We hired our pretty french louis furniture for a sweet table, topped with our 80cm glass fluted vase. We hand painted the chalk board signs and filled the drawers with flowers.
We designed the menu cards, place settings table numbers and large table plan using pretty florals.
A little bit about the favours. The family used these insanely cute mason jars filled with Holly water imported from The Zamzam Well, Mecca and we finished it off with a tag quoting from the Quran 'And He created you in pairs'. Please follow this link and read the history behind The Zamzam Well, its a beautiful heart warming story
Hand painted welcome boards placed by the roadside and outside the main entrance to welcome the guests.
I am already missing my conversations with this family and I hope this will be one of those where we stay in touch after the wedding.
With 630 glass vases used for this wedding all that remains now is the washing up!!
All items mentioned available to hire, including design of signage and table stationary please contact us for more info.
Thanks to More Weddings, JuliasFlowers and lovely to meet the very professional team from Shaziana catering. Photography by Georgina McGrath.
I want to shared with you a fabulous Woodland themed wedding we had the pleasure of styling earlier in the season. Vicki and Ben approached me last year with their ideas for the perfect afternoon tea in the woods inspired theme. Vicki didn't want a wedding full of Ivory and White, rather she wanted a real pop of colour and fun. The wedding was held in Hothorpe Hall's new venue The Woodlands. For those of you planning a rustic wedding you must take a look at this venue. Nestled amongst the trees The Woodlands offers the perfect backdrop for the rustic wedding, with wooden chalets for your guests, a fabulous outdoor blessing area and a bespoke treehouse for Bride & Groom complete with all the luxuries (unlike any treehouse you have ever seen!).
Drawing inspiration from nature we constructed a log alter in the blessing area of The Woodlands with an abundance of gold wrapped candles, conical vases and different height logs. Some 35 logs, 80 vases, tea light holders and candles went into creating the log alter but it was worth it. We borrowed the table centrepieces to add colour to the backdrop, pretty vintage pressed glass cake stands with gorgeous popping colourful arrangements by Flowers By Philippa, Philippa finished off the alter with a pretty stage of rose petals for the bride and groom to stand on. It didn't end there, we lined the aisle with lanterns, hung colourful parasols from the trees and surrounded the area with huge latex 1 meter balloons.
A whisky barrel table piled high with Vintage china for the guests to enjoy following the ceremony completed the afternoon tea in the woods. Further more Philippa dressed a very pretty bridge with a colourful array of Calla lilies and roses. An abundance of shepherd hooks throughout the Woodland with pretty flower filled jam jars completed the look ...and then it rained!
I have loved Vicki and Ben's enthusiasm for their wedding throughout the planning and on the day they both remained totally unruffled when the heavens decided to open. I applaud Vicki for sticking to her guns and she did go on to enjoy a beautiful Woodland wedding, the odd umbrella did not deter her and they both smiled throughout the day.
Inside the Mulberry dining room the rustic theme continued with elegant charm. We designed lots of lovely chalk boards and made apple place settings to tie the look together. Vicki and Ben very much enjoyed being involved with the planning of their day and I love the pretty little hessian bag favours. The Mulberry dining room is a beautiful reception room with large glass windows overlooking the woodland area.
A mix of tall glass vase and silver candelabra centrepieces with mercury candle holders.
A stunning opulent wedding at a beautiful venue. We used our 80cm glass footed vases with our 100cm silver candelabras to create height. In a very large room like this its always a good idea to go for tall centrepieces that take the eye up. These were dressed with floral balls of hydrangeas and roses by the very talented florist Julia Dilworth. To compliment the centrepieces we used our mercury candle holders in a variety of heights and mercury votives. A lovely touch on the head table was the vintage silver coffee pot set used as a vase with pretty rose flower heads. The look was pulled together by the touches of black and white and the giant Love letters. The sun was shinning and the Orangery at Kilworth House looked set for a very elegant party!
Embracing the versatility of our decorative altar, I wanted to share with you our Mandap/civil ceremony alter/Chuppah. I was approached by a bride back in October 2014 and asked to help her organise her wedding, a mix of English and Hindu traditions. Her ceremony was taking place at the glorious Keythorpe Manor in Leicestershire so it wasn't going to be difficult to make Kayleighs wedding splendid. We designed an elegant decorative ceremony alter that could be used for traditional Hindu ceremonies, English civil ceremonies as well as Jewish wedding ceremonies. With a lightweight structure, its easily transportable and large enough to fit six chairs beneath (the bride & groom, with their parents) and we finally had a chance to see the Mandap installed for Kayleigh's wedding this weekend.
A Mandap is a covered structure with pillars for the purpose of a Hindu or Jain wedding. The main wedding ceremonies take place under the mandap. Traditionally, the wedding mandap is decorated using kalashas (pots filed with water), garlands of mango leaves, coconuts, banana leaves, etc. although modern Mandaps use fabrics, lights, crystals and flowers. A haven kund (fire box) is placed beneath the Mandap and forms part of the wedding ceremony and I cannot wait to see the official pictures from Kayleigh's wedding so I can fully appreciate its beauty. It has been a real pleasure working with Kayleigh and her family, and after countless emails that I will miss! we pulled together a beautiful wedding with lots of lovely elegant touches.
Stocking a range of high end centrepieces to hire. Tall centrepieces are a great way to create impact in a large room but also allow your guests uninterrupted conversation across the table!

We added these large beauties to our stock recently and they are already proving to be a very popular hire item, they may overtake the Tandem Bike! Brides have just 'got to have them' regardless of their location! The barrels are currently in London for a promotional whiskey launch and they are off to Manchester later this month for a wedding. I have resisted the temptation to restore them too much so they have just the right mix of nostalgia without looking too worse for wear.
We currently have 5 regular 200L barrels (perfect height to form tables) and 2 gorgeous taller Poser tables but we will be increasing this soon. The poser tables are 107cm tall with a circular glass top and optional corks that sit beneath the glass. You could also replace the corks with black and white photographs for an alternative look. We have 2 widths of rustic plank table tops as pictured here - 150cm sits nicely on 2 whiskey barrels and is the perfect size for your cake table or cocktail table and a 300cm plank table top that sits on 3 barrels, perfect size for your buffet table.
If you are interested in hiring the whiskey barrels please get in touch.

We have recently added these fabulous glass cake domes to our collection. They can be hired with their matching glass footed cake stand but we rather like them perched on varying height log slices.
Above Photographs of our Gold Candelabras courtesy of Hannah Webster Lifeline Photography, hired for a beautiful Christmas wedding December 2013 at Norwood Park.
We have a large stock of candelabras in Silver and Gold finish. Pictured above our very popular Gold Candelabra to add a touch of glamour to any wedding or event. These are 80cm tall in a high gloss gold plate. The striking height of these candelabras allow for uninterrupted conversation between your guests and they look so pretty they require very little floral decoration.
Candelabra hire starts from £17.50, the Gold candelabra hires for £25 each over a 1-4 day hire period.

We were asked to produce the Giant Chalkboard backdrop for Market Harborough Robert Smyth Academy's Great Gatsby Prom earlier this year and what a great night! We used our vintage suitcases stacked up either side to frame the chalk board and filled the top suitcase with fun props. Often hired for weddings our photo booth set-up was ideal for the school Prom but it also works really well for general parties. There were over 300 amazing shots so it was very difficult to narrow it down to these, but here are some of the Great Gatsby Prom 2014 images ...
The Giant free standing Chalk Board backdrop is available to hire hand painted with your own choice of verse. Its great for weddings and parties. You can hire it as part of a package with a large travel trunk filled with props or on its own. We have a large selection of vintage suitcases and if you would like to replicate these pictures package prices are available.
This is a large item, you are welcome to collect it from us for your event/wedding or we can quote for delivery. We are based in the Midlands, Market Harborough, Leicestershire. The hire period is 1-4 days but extensions can be arranged. Please contact us if you would like any more information.
Nerissa Eve Weddings founded by two sisters Nadine Nerissa and Laura Eve, hence the company name. Following our own weddings in 2012 we noticed a gap in the industry for suppliers of hire items that offered something a little more unique and at realistic prices hence Nerissa Eve Weddings was born. In this world of DIY weddings and realistic budgets we were surprised to find very few companies encouraging couples with 'Dry Hire' terms so we have made it our mission to do just that. All of our products can be viewed and collected from our expanding storage facility. While we are more than happy to help you style your wedding, we are also very pleased to assist you with styling your day your way by yourself. Through our love of weddings and artistic background we want to help brides bring their ideas to life. By talking to us you might be surprised what is possible with a bit of creative flair xx
